We must be clear that in every culture and in every historical moment, we are doing theology from a specific socio-political location, and it is necessary that in each moment, we analyze the contributions and acts of each consciously contextualized theology in order to work for justice, dignity, and renewal.
Virginity is not the secret of to healthy or good relationships. Evangelicals worship at the altar of purity and put resources, time, and theologizing into protecting it without teaching is people how to be Christians of sexual integrity and Christlikeness.
I don’t know that the earthly family of God would have made it to Bethlehem this year. And while we watch hallmark specials and engage in consumerism in the name of Christ, we may lose the point of the incarnation all together.
I would much rather mourn that which is true rather than rejoice in evil.
